It varies how much support and comfort babies need to calm down. Sometimes it's enough for the child to see you, to know that you are near at hand. Other times, a lot of support, such as pacifier and lulling, is necessary to calm the cry. Try to see what your child needs in different situations. The child will eventually learn that mom and dad will provide help when things are difficult. Together you will figure it out!

The steps goes from 1-8. Start with step 1 and add the next step if needed. The child needs some time (10-15 seconds) to see if the support you have provided is enough. Give it a few seconds before going to the next step.
